Quantum-proofing consensus isn’t just a Bitcoin problem, it’s a design tradeoff every chain has to face.
Ethereum’s path: SNARKify the signatures, generate a proof every 12 seconds that verifies them all at once.
Bitcoin’s path: still being written. The new “shrinks” scheme is stateful (better than stateless alternatives) but signature size still balloons ~10x, from 64 bytes to hundreds.
That means blocks get bigger even if transaction throughput doesn’t, reviving the block size debate in a new context.
Two networks, two philosophies, same underlying question: how much complexity are you willing to add today to stay secure tomorrow.
