They start permissioned and private, become permissioned public, and maybe one day go permissionless. They were never going to arrive permissionless on day one. Avalanche’s differentiator is letting a private, permissioned instance run on top of a public permissionless network, so institutions get the safety their compliance requires within a real chain. Because we’re never going to get people onchain by telling them they have to be purists on day one.
The history backs him: crypto-native chains stayed too open for institutions for years, enterprise permissioned chains stayed too closed to matter, and the middle path is the one actually signing customers.
