Starknet has opened a governance vote on whether to leave Ethereum and operate as its own independent blockchain.
Starknet is currently a Layer-2. It bundles transactions and settles them on Ethereum’s chain. A Layer-1 shift would mean Starknet handles its own settlement, cutting that dependency entirely.
bloomingbit reports the vote opened today. The proposal is framed as seeking a break from Ethereum.
Ethereum fell 8 percent this week. A successful Starknet vote would shift its transaction settlement off Ethereum’s network. The result is not yet known.
